THE JOHNNY CASH
Man in Black
People say that music is the language of the soul, and nothing could be truer for Johnny Cash tribute artist, George Richard, and his Johnny Cash Tribute Show band members. Composed of a group of talented vocalists and musicians from northern Vermont, the band shares a great passion for the soulful, iconic music of Johnny Cash, June Carter Cash and the Tennessee Three. The Johnny Cash Tribute Show authentically recreates Johnny's legendary rockabilly, blues, folk and gospel sound. Their dedication to that authentic sound is a fitting tribute to The Man in Black.

One Piece at a Time
George actually met Johnny and June in person several times in the late '80's, and ever since then, held the dream of one day forming his own Johnny Cash tribute band. With the help of some amazing local musicians (and some good fortune), George met the wonderful people that shared his vision. George Richard, as Johnny Cash, has a baritone voice that reminds all of the "golden-throated" Cash. Our female vocalist, Marie Ragan, as June Carter Cash, accompanies George for duets, as well as performing a powerful rendition of Patsy Cline songs.
Our marvelous musicians, Shawn Emery (as Luther Perkins), Marty Morrissey (Jack Clement), Wayne Wanser (W.S. Holland) and Chris Martin (Marshall Grant) passionately bring that familiar, authentic Cash sound. Many thanks to Dennis Fox, who graciously lends his support when needed for stage lighting , sound and standing-in for our guitarists.
We have performed at The Abbey in Sheldon, the Double E T-Rex Theater in Essex, the Vergennes Opera House in Vergennes, VT, the Littleton Opera House in Littleton, NH, the Vermont Statehouse, the Chandler Center for the Arts in Randolph, Durty Nelly's Irish Pub in St. Albans, Apple Island RV Resort in South Hero, Enosburg Opera House in a dual-tribute performance with Mark Shelton as Elvis Presley, the Bradford Fair in Bradford, the Franklin County Field Days in Enosburg, the Vermont Dairy Festival in Enosburg, Shelburne Sugarworks in Shelburne, the Community Bible Church in S. Burlington, the Bayside Pavilion in St. Albans, the Wounded Warrior Project's Oktoberfest in Shelburne, the Moose Lodge in S. Burlington, Colors Helping Others in Alburgh, and CareOne in Millbury, MA. We were also featured on "The:30" and a second news segment on WCAX, as well as a great article in the Burlington Free Press! The band enjoys giving back to our communities with benefit concerts. We've teamed up with the Burlington Moose Lodge two years in a row now during 98.9 WOKO's Big Change Roundup to help raise money for the UVM Childrens Hospital. We are both honored and grateful to work with those dedicated Moose Lodge members!
To honor "The Man in Black" and the shows he performed at Folsom Prison and San Quentin State Prison, The Johnny Cash Tribute Show has performed for inmates at six Vermont correctional facilities so far: the Northeast Correctional Complex, the Northwest State Correctional Facility, the Chittenden Regional Correctional Facility, the Southern State Correctional Facility, and the Maple Valley Regional Correctional Facility and the Northern State Correctional Facility. The inmates, superintendents, staff and volunteers in attendance were very appreciative of the band's performances and enjoyed our shows!
